BALLOON
TAKE OFF
On
21 November 1783 a wonderfully decorated blue ball rose silently in a cloud
of smoke above the park of Versailles to the applause of a large assembled
crowd.
On
board were two “noble” gentlemen, Marquis d’Arlandes and Pilatre de Rozier.
The first balloonists. After a journey of about 5 km they landed safely
into the lap of mother earth. Accompanied by applause from the jubilant
crowds they were brought back to Paris. The Sun King presented them with
the estates they had flown over for their courageous deed. From then on,
there began a new age in history. The dream of flying had been fulfilled
for mankind.
Today
with the most modern technology it is a beautiful, safe experience to
travel
majestically through the air with a colourful ball of fire – a hot air
balloon. No one knows where the wind will carry them, but with the modern
technology
of
the weather men it is possible to determine where the adventurous journey
will
lead.
Fans
and burners are necessary to heat the
6000
cbm of air to the required starting temperature. Such a flight experience
is
offered to you even today in a hot air balloon, 200 yrs after the first
take off . The meeting place is near Koblenz. You will be met at an arranged
time by an experienced pilot, allotted a balloon and then driven to the
starting point.
Just
before the lift off
Climb
in , let go of the ropes
And
up you go………
Everyone
can help with the inflation of the balloon and the equipping of the
basket
under the instruction of the pilots. When all the passengers are on board
and the balloon is ready for take off, then it rises gently from the ground
and guided by the wind it floats peacefully onwards.
THE
JOURNEY
Like
a bird floating over the countryside, borne only by the wind which determines
the direction and destination. The position along the Rhine, Moselle and
Lahn rivers offers you a bird’s eye view of one of the most beautiful holiday
and day trip landscapes in Germany. Only a balloon can fly so low that
you can recognise forests, villages, castles and palaces below you.
1
to 1 ½ hours for you to feel free and removed from everyday stress.
THE
LANDING AND LANDING CELEBRATION
As
your exciting journey time nears its end, you will receive several instructions
from the pilots as to the correct procedure for landing.
The
team on the ground
which has followed by car will directed by radio to the landing spot to
pick up the passengers and equipment after the landing. Now everyone lends
a hand to dismantle the balloons.
When
everything is packed and put away you will be invited to take your place
at
the “prepared” table to celebrate the successful landing with chilled champagne.
Your pilot will tell you some interesting stories about ballooning and
then according to old tradition will raise you to the peerage of balloonist.
You receive a personal certificate with your new titled name!
Enjoy
the landing celebrations as a wonderful end to your adventure.
Balloon
down, glasses raised! Celebrate after a successful landing.
CLOTHING
Dress
as if you were going out walking or hiking for the day. It’s better to
dress
in
old clothes and firm shoes because you will be probably landing on a wet
field. As you do not feel the wind in the balloon you do not have wrap
up especially warm. In the winter we recommend warm shoes.
