SPORT ALONG THE MOSELLE

For sport enthusiasts your holiday is, of course, the chance to indulge in your passion. The Moselle isn’t exactly an “Eldorado” for “fun sports” but all the same you’ll be amazed at the possibilities there are in and around the Moselle valley region. And pretty jogging and running routes are in abundance here.

Off we go! From aerobics through to water sports!

Meetings with local teams and clubs as well as halls,pitches 
and courts are better reserved or organised in advance 
before the beginning of your holiday.

For German guests proof of fishing licence is needed. For guests of other EU countries no proof is necessary. Annual fishing subscription is 10 DM
Fish native to the Moselle are: carp, roach, tench, bream, barbell, pike-perch, pike, perch, trout, eel, and many , many more.
Beware careful! Salmon and some trout are protected species all year round.
In addition to this; fishing is still allowed on Ulmen’s volcanic lake and at many trout ponds (day pass required).

Fitness training: Under instruction with many different machines and pieces of equipment at fitness studio Cochem or fitness studio Braun (with massage and back problem treatments) at the leisure centre and swimming pool, Cochem.

Football: match organisation Cochem, in the Moselle stadium. Information in advance from the reception.

Gliding: Flying club Büchel. Reservations only possible before holiday begins.

Go kart: at the Nürburgring adventure world ( you’ll feel like Heinz-Harald Frentzen or Schumi no. III!) at Hahn airport and in the go kart hall in Polch.

Gymnastics: Gym club Cochem (one of the biggest clubs in Rheinland-Pfalz) with numerous sections – information in advance only on request.

Hand ball: Cochem gymnasium. Halls definitely have to be reserved in advance.

Hiking: Guided hikes in Cochem, Ediger, Ellenz, Ernst, Valwig/Cochem – Apollo way.

Horse riding: We recommend our friend and “horse whisperer” Walter Schmitz. Info at the reception. Apart from that there are several riding halls and clubs etc.

Hot air ballooning: see our special page

Jogging: Great routes – Info at the reception.

Karate: Karate and Judo club Cochem – a very successful club. Info and reservations only in advance.

Mini golf: at the leisure centre.

Motor boating: on the Moselle and on nearby rivers. Yacht harbour in Cochem

Rowing: The home of the Cochem rowing club is just 5 minutes away from the hotel. Contact/ reservations must definitely be made in advance. Info at the reception.

Sauna, steambath and solarium: in the hotel and at the leisure centre.


 


Squash: Tennis halls in Dohr.

Swimming: Indoor pool at the hotel and in Cochem (Great heated outdoor pool 
and indoor pool with wave machine, ten pin bowling, children’s land, sauna, 
tennis courts and crazy golf.

Tennis: Outside courts in Cochem, indoor courts in Dohr and Treis-Karden.

Volleyball: Gym club Cochem, courts definitely have to be reserved in advance. As an opponent we recommend the hobby and leisure team of our friend Roland Rohs (age 40+ Beware! Quite hard to beat!)


Walking: wonderful routes along the Moselle and simply everywhere else. Info at the reception.
